Arrives in excellent touch after wins at Vaal in BM66 and Open company, most recently beating God's Country by just over a length as a well-supported favourite. He has carried big weights throughout this run of form and has enough early speed to offset the wider draw. The distance is no issue on career figures, though he is still winless from six at this track and distance, so he profiles as a genuine place hope rather than the race's safest winning option.

Expected Settling Position: Leader

Resumes off a two-month freshening after a strong first-up second in a BM80 at Turffontein Inside, beaten only a neck by Blindfire on soft ground at big odds. His overall record is lightly exposed but solid, with one win and three placings from six starts, and the distance record reads well with one win and two placings from four. Back to this grade with that run under the belt, he looks the runner to beat.

Expected Settling Position: Off Midfield

Returns from a four-month break after ending his last campaign with a last placing in a BM74 at this track, beaten just over nine lengths when near the top of an open market. His prior Vaal win over Time Will Tell shows what he can do when right, and the jockey has won on him before, but the overall 1160m record is mixed. He has to produce a much sharper fresh run to trouble the stronger hopes.

Kept his form ticking over when second to Evening Parade at Vaal, beaten a length in NOV grade at generous odds. That followed a narrow MPLTE win at the same venue, so he brings race fitness and some confidence. His season figures are sound, with a win and two placings from four starts, but one placing from six at this track and distance leaves him looking a solid place chance more than a clear top pick.

Has put two wins together at Vaal, last time beating On A Jet Plane by just over half a length in a BM66 over 1400m as a heavily backed favourite. The earlier MPLTE win over Stilo Novo was stronger on margin, and his season has been very reliable with two wins and two placings from four. The concern is this venue and distance, where he is unplaced from three tries, so he is a live place player with a question to answer.

Returns from a two-month freshening after finishing fifth in a FM BM80 at Turffontein Inside, beaten just over five lengths. The run prior was much better, a head win in RBH66 grade over Nkandla Gold, and she has placed at this track twice from three attempts. Her turf record is reliable and the apprentice claim helps the set-up, leaving her as a realistic place hope if she rebounds from the latest effort.

Was unwanted in the market when sixth at Vaal in NOV grade last start, beaten five and a half lengths by Evening Parade. Two back was more concerning, finishing fifth of six at Turffontein Inside and beaten over 15 lengths by Raptor King. He is unplaced in all four starts at this distance and all five runs in the past 12 months, so a sharp turnaround is required.

Returns from a three-month break after ending his last campaign with a head win at this venue, beating Skitt Smiling in MPLTE grade at generous odds. He had been fourth at long odds on this track the run before, so the profile is still lightly tested. One win from three starts gives him some upside, but he is unplaced from his only attempt around 1160m and faces a tougher assignment fresh.

Was close enough at Vaal last start, finishing fourth in a BM74 over 1000m and beaten just over a length by Lonely As A Cloud at generous odds. The previous FM BM85 fourth was less convincing, but this looks a more suitable set-up and she has been holding her form this season. The step to 1160m is the only real knock, with no placing from three tries, yet her latest run keeps her right in the winning discussion.

Returns from a two-month freshening with a very consistent profile, having placed at both recent starts. He was third to Nkandla Gold in Open company at Vaal, beaten just over two lengths, after a BM72 third at Turffontein Inside when sent out firming favourite. The win strike-rate is the reservation, but seven placings from 17 starts around this trip underline how often he runs well enough to be right in this.

Expected Settling Position: Midfield
